i used to attend shanklin in the 70's. they split in to 2--and share a purpose built hall in nearby Lake. my ex goes there.
another hall at Freshwater.
was one in Cowes--but was disbanded--my old dad was there. merged with Newport--had a purpose built hall--my dad chipped in £5000 to that----only to have it sold and a former windowless ex church purchased. this is shared by 2 congregations.
so--as far as i know--there will be just 3 halls left if Ryde gets sold.

as all j-dubs know, whenever someone complains about how long the "new system" is taking too arrive, they use the excuse that jehovah works on his own time.
quite a few times during the public talks, i've heard speakers say the phrase "1000 years to us is only one day to jehovah" (my parents never stop talking about this).
i remember asking Ron Drage to explain to me about the 7000 year day. he abruptly said it was all in the societies publications. this conversation took place at a circuit assembly--in the UK about 1966. he was the DO then.
i wonder how many senior members really believed it.

one of the reasons i quit the cult--over 40 years ago--was having no faith in the 7,000 year long creative day nonsense. its only when i discovered the online world of xjw's that i found out that had been quietly dropped.

having just commented on the post by trailerfitter about the situation with his wife, and how i have personally found the book crisis of conscience by ray franz to be the perfect antidote to the society's perception of itself as being god's earthly organisation, the thought occurred to me: what if there was a movie about ray franz and his life?
obviously the society would be in uproar, and letters would be read out to all congregations all over the world not to go and see it, but just imagine!
i cant imagine any member of the great unwashed general public paying to see a film about jehovahs witnesses.

they had been introduced by a former sheriff who claims he had researched the company and found no leins or judgments, and that former sheriff had been brought in by a pastor.

so, i joined just yesterday after coming across this forum looking at beth sarim, and i though that i would share my story with you.
it will no doubt be very similar to a lot of others, but it's a way of getting to know me at least.. i was brought up as witness from the age of 4 years old, my dad picked up the 'truth' from one of his friends in the pub and it seemed to go from there, he would quickly get baptised and progress to becoming a ministerial servant and then an elder.
from a young age i wanted to be like my dad and become a pioneer, a ministerial servant and then an elder... perhaps even becoming a co. the world, spiritually speaking, was my oyster.
